Ultimaker paintjob

On 24-01-2012, in 3d printing, Projects, by erwin

The wood of the Ultimaker has been laser cut. This results in unbelievable detailed and precise wooden parts. Unfortunately, it also introduces burnmarks. The people from SiegeToys counter this by using paper-covered wood. The paper is burned, but the wood stays intact. This is a hint I will submit to the Ultimaker guys (and galls).

Nice and clean cuts:

Burned backside:

If all burned parts were facing inwards, I wouldn’t care. Unfortunately, this is not possible because some necessary building instructions are printed on the wood.

A paintjob will greatly improve the adoption of the printer in our house. 🙂
Now what color…
